Thelma Mae Miller, age 98, of Osage and formerly of St. Ansgar, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will be at the Osage Cemetery. Following services, there will be a time for fellowship and light refreshments at the Osage American Legion Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family of Thelma Miller.

Thelma was born February 24, 1918, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Matthew and Emma (Fox) Evans. She attended school in Osage and worked at Gardner Nursery and McSweeney Produce until her marriage to Lawrence Miller of rural St. Ansgar. Together they farmed until his death in 1983. Thelma remained on the farm, where she loved the outdoors, especially the birds, butterflies, her flowers, and a good bonfire. She enjoyed reading, quilting, word find puzzles, patching jeans for the neighborhood, and making wooden yard art. Thelma was also very skilled at crocheting.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Glenn) Schuler of Osage; step-granddaughters, Lisa (Jason) Rheinberg of Reigate, United Kingdom, and Lori (Doug) Lewis of San Antonio, Texas; five step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Leanna Miller of Osage; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; her son, Merlyn; three brothers and two sisters.
