Leonard Isaac Turnmire was born October 25, 1881, at Richland, Wisconsin, to David Alexander Turnmire and Mary Polly Vance.
Found in the 1880 census living at Akan, Richland, Wisconsin: David Turnmire 33, Mary Turnmire 33, Mary Turnmire 13, Edward Turnmire 10, Alexander Turnmire 9, John Turnmire 8, Margaret Turnmire 6, Leonard Turnmire 1.
Leonard married Martha Anderson on October 11, 1902 at Floyd, Iowa.
The couple had five children: Elmer L Turnmire (1904 - 1935), Ivan Turnmire (1905 - 1963), Clark David Turnmire (1906 - 1977), Norma E Turnmire (1911 IA, married James Holst, died 1962 California) and Wanda Turnmire (1917 -).

Found in the 1930 census at Pleasant Valley, Mower, Minnesota: Lenard Turmire 49, farmer, Martha Turmire 48, Elmer Turmire 26, Evelyn Turmire 21, Norma Turmire 19, Wanda Turmire 13, Dorothy Turmire 2 yrs 7 mos.
Found in the 1940 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Leonard L Turnmire 59, Martha Turnmire 57.
Leonard I. Turnmire died October 26, 1948 at Austin, Mower, Minnesota and was buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
There is a memorial for him at Find A Grave #63158543 with a photo of his gravestone.
