Anne Mikkelsdatter Rust Tollefson (Tolleivson) was born February 20, 1843 at Gol in Hallingdal, Buskerud, Norway, the fourth of their six children. Anne was baptized March 26, 1843 at Gol, Norway.
In the spring of 1845, Anne's parents (Mikkel and Groe) and their four children (Guri, Guri, Tollef and Anne) left Norway to emigrate to America. They left Drammen, Norway and traveled on the ship "Skulda", arriving at New York, New York on July 16, 1845. From there, they traveled on to settle at Rock Prairie, Rock, Wisconsin.
In 1853, the family of 8 (two more children had been born, Leiv and Anders) followed the Reverend Claus Clausen party west to settle on farmland near St Ansgar, Mitchell Co, Iowa. Anne's father Mikkel bought land in 1855 from the US Government.
Anne never married, nor had children.
Found in the 1856 - 1915 censuses living at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1856 : Mickel Tollefson 52, J Tollefson 50, J Tollefson 20, J Tollefson, F Tollefson, A Tollefson, L Tollefson, A Tollefson.
1860: Michael Toliffson 54, Gourie Toliffson 50, Toliff Toliffson 19, Gourie Toliffson 22, Anna Toliffson 17, Louisa Toliffson 14, Andrew Toliffson 10, Peter Torson 27, Holver Englebretson 18.
1870: Michael Tollifson 61, Grove Tollifson 59, Ann Tollifson 26, Louisa Tollifson 23, Andrew Tollifson 20.
1900: Annie M Tollefson age 57.
1915: Annie M Tollefson age 71.
Anne Tollefson died March 13, 1919 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the First Lutheran Cemetery, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
There is a memorial for her at Find a Grave #157439144.

Note: The family surname in Norway was Rust Tolleivson or Tolleivsen. After emigrating, the surname is found spelled various ways but most commonly spelled Tollefson.
