CRYSTAL, MINNESOTA - Karen Virginia Crossley, 57,formerly of Osage, passed away at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, on December 1, 2015, surrounded by her immediate family. Under hospice care, she succumbed to complications of liver cirrhosis. Her wishes were to be cremated and her life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held in the spring of 2016 in Osage.
Karen was born in Osage on August 22, 1958, to Dr. J.W. and Barbara Crossley, the fourth of five children. She attended Osage Community Schools where she graduated in May, 1976. She earned her associate's degree in 1979 from Brown Institute of Technology in Minneapolis, Minn.
Karen was a long-time resident of Crystal, Minn. and she worked as an Engineering Design Technologist for Honeywell in the Twin Cities for more than 25 years. During her tenure at Honeywell, she received numerous honorary awards for her industriousness and continually strived to better herself in her profession. She also had short stints with Control Data and 3M.
Karen was a true animal lover and a multiple pet owner over the years including several rescue dogs. She was an avid equestrian in her teens and her love for horses never ceased, even after her riding days were over. She was accomplished in arts and crafts, doing beautiful needlework and ceramics. Towards the end of her life, Karen found a new passion for riding motorcycles. She never lost her sense of home and made frequent trips back to Osage to spend time at her childhood home.
Karen was a very loving aunt to her surviving nieces and nephews David, Kris, and Amy (Diane), Elise and Matt (Janet), Adam, Paul, and Jonathan (Scott) and grand nieces, Lillian & Riley (Kris).
Karen is survived by her siblings, all formerly of Osage - Brian (Judy Driscoll) in Durham, N.C., Janet (Doug Reding) in Auburndale, Wis., Diane in St. Paul, Minn., and Scott (Robin) in Buffalo Grove, Ill. She is also survived by her stepmother, Muriel (Crossley) Jeffries of Naples, Fla.; Dale Hewitt, former husband, of Osage; and other relatives and friends. She also leaves behind her loyal and faithful pets Rosie, Barney and Smokey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. J. Wesley Crossley and Barbara Crossley.
It was Karen's desire that when she passed on, if she could help improve someone's life through research by organ donation, we would honor and respect her wishes. Due to multiple heath issues, Karen traveled a harder road than most. As for the people she leaves behind, we will miss her with all our hearts.
