Rene Taets was born May 14, 1900 at Lembeke, Belgium to Bruno Taets and Therese Coquit.
Rene left Belgium to emigrate to America. He traveled on the ship "Aquitania" and arrived in New York City on February 23, 1921. He traveled on to settle in Iowa.
Rene married Inga Olsen on December 11, 1927 at Manly, Worth, Iowa.
The couple had four daughters:
Rosaline M (b May 20, 1928 Iowa, married Gerald Kinter 1953, d October 30, 1990);
Kathryn Grace (b January 26, 1931 Plymouth, Cerro Gordo, Iowa, married Calvin Oral Levorson June 1951, d March 12, 2014 Cresco, Howard, Iowa);
Maxine Ruth (b October 22, 1936 Elma, Howard, Iowa, married Vernon Philip Falck 1960, d May 29, 2013 Cresco, Howard, Iowa) and
Geraldine M (b November 1, 1939 Howard, Iowa, married Gary James Torney 1962).
Found in the 1930 census living at Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa, Farmer: Rene Tants 29, Inga O Tants 27, Roseline M Tants 1.
Found in the 1940 census at Afton, Howard, Iowa: Rone Taets 39, Inga Taets 37, Rose Line 11, Catherine 9, Marine 3, Geraldine 5 mos.
Rene Taets died June 1975 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa. He was buried at the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa. There is a memorial for him at Find a Grave #88063715.
