OSAGE, IOWA - Marvin Paul Pitzen, age 85, of Osage, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
As per his wishes, private family inurnment services will be held at a later date.
Marvin was born October 11, 1930, near Stacyville, Iowa, the son of Paul and Roselea "Sally" (Mullenbach) Pitzen. He attended Little Cedar Schools. Marvin served in the U.S. Army in Korea for one and a half years during the Korean Conflict.
On February 25, 1954, he married Edna Nicol in Osage. They spent their entire married life in Osage. Marvin retired from Olsen Implement after working for over 30 years as a tractor mechanic. He was a member of the Osage V.F.W. and was a member and former president of the Cedar River Saddle Club. Marvin enjoyed his family, fishing, caring for his cats, and helping people. He loved to "tinker" and was famous for his ability to fix anything with duct tape.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Edna Pitzen of Osage; his children, Pam (Steve) Wilde of Grafton, Rita Pitzen (Trent Busma) of Dumont, Keith (Julie) Pitzen of Waterloo, Kevin Pitzen of Grafton, Brenda (Todd) Giller of Hugo, Minnesota, and Kent (Rita) Pitzen of Cresco; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Alice (Owen "Bud") Counsell of Osage; brothers, Melvin "Bill" (Shirley) Pitzen of Marshalltown, and Roger (Georgene "Gin") Pitzen of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
