Mr. Dammen died on November 9, 2015, at the Help for Health Hospice Home.

Darwin was born on November 26, 1946, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Karl Gilman and Wilma Konnie (Berg) Dammen.

He married Marjorie Rake; but the couple later divorced.

On May 24, 1989, he married Carol J. Knutson Wiener in Casper, Wyoming.

Darwin was a very active FFA leader while in High School at the Osage, Iowa Community School District. He served as chapter president and earned the 24th Iowa Farmer Degree in Osage FFA chapter history (this is the highest degree that can be awarded by the Iowa FFA Association).

In addition, he was outstanding in both extemporaneous and public speaking contests with FFA. Immediately following graduation from high school, Darwin farmed for over 20 years in the Osage, Iowa area but the difficult economic conditions of the early 1980’s largely dismantled the farming operation. Nevertheless, he loved farming with a passion, always pursuing excellence in crop and livestock production. He was considered a great neighbor and one who was always willing and able to help others.

He moved to Cody, Wyoming in 1985. He then moved to Casper, WY and resided there from 1989 until 1998 when he and Carol moved to Lander, WY. The couple moved to Riverton, WY in 2014. He worked in advertising and marketing for 27 years, with 17 of those years at Fremont Motor Company as the marketing director. His family says that Darwin loved his job at Fremont Motors.

Mr. Dammen enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
