Biography--

Richard Eugene “Chico” Leraaen, 78, of Ellsworth, WI formerly of Waterloo went to be with the love of his life in Heaven on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

He was born January 27, 1937 in St. Ansgar, Iowa, the son of Knut and Lilly (Rasmussen) Leraaen. He married Barbara A. Heideman on November 21, 1959 in Cedar Falls; she preceded him in death on April 25, 2011.

Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1959. He worked at John Deere for 33 years, retiring in 1991. He and his wife Barb owned Barb’s Dam Resort in Hager City, Wisconsin, from 1982-1996.

He is survived by one son, Randy (Penney) Leraaen of Waterloo; two daughters, Pam (Ward) Harshman of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, Sheila (Matt) Rowley of Gulfport, Mississippi; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Myron (Claire) Leraaen of Charles City, Kenneth (Sherrie) Leraaen of Waverly, and Harold Leraaen of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Barb.
