RITES FOR BERTHA
BERGES, FORMER
RESIDENT, TODAYThe remains of Bertha Berges, 57, were brought to Osage today from Iowa Falls for funeral service and burial. Miss Berges, who spent most of her life in this community, died at the farm home of her brother, George Berges, eight miles south of Iowa Falls, Tuesday evening.
Miss Berges suffered pneumonia last winter, and a complication of heart disease and dropsy followed.
She spent most of her life in this county. The farm home of her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Berges, was in the vicinity of St. John's Lutheran Church, and is now the property of Victor Tabbert.
After the death of the mother, Mr. Berges and family moved to Osage. When Mr. Berges passed away, Bertha made her home with her brother, George and family. Later she bought a small residence and lived there until her brother moved to Iowa Falls, when she went to make her home with his family.
George is the only surviving member of the family. A sister, Anna Berges, a teacher, died many years ago.
Funeral service will be held this afternoon at St. John's Lutheran Church, in charge of deceased's pastor, the Reverend Harnes of Iowa Falls, and burial will be in the family lot in St. John's cemetery.
