LIEUT. B. GREENWELL DIES
Word has reached Osage of the death of Lieut. Barry Tyler Greenwell, husband of the former Elizabeth Urnes. Lieutenant Greenwell had been in failing health for some years. He and his family resided at Pensacola, Florida.
Surviving is Mrs. Greenwell and their children, Barry Jr., and Jane Theokara.
Lieutenant Greenwell was buried with full military honors. The funeral cortege was preceded by squads of the marine corps with whom Lieut. Greenwell's son, Barry Jr. fought on Guadalcanal.
Many Osagers remember the wedding of the deceased and his wife 25 years ago. It was a war romance as both were serving their country in World War I when they met and served in France. When dropped from an airplane and injured, Lieutenant Greenwell was taken to the hospital where Miss Urnes was doing hospital duty as a Red Cross nurse. The friendship culminated in their marriage here at the Osage Lutheran Church after the war.
