STEVE JOHNSON
COMMITS SUICIDEThe body of Steve Johnson, 53, was found Monday morning hanging from a trestle just outside of Rochester, Minnesota. Railroad men discovered the body.
Mr. Johnson had been a resident of Osage since 1931, doing landscaping and lawn work for various people about town. He lived at the home of Mrs. Herzog on Mechanic street.
The past several weeks he had spent at Rochester because of his health, and despondency is believed to have been the cause of his act.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Johnson of Rockford, Iowa. He operated a lunch-room in Rockford prior to World War I. He was a veteran of that war, having served 18 months, part of the time overseas.
He was married and divorced, two children survive. In addition he is survived by two brothers, Henry of Waterloo, Iowa, and Lonie of Rockford, Iowa; also a sister, Mrs. Alta Rouse of Owatonna, Minnesota.
A military funeral was held at the Rockford Methodist church.
