Flora (Landfare) Meech – June 4, 1852 – February 26, 1940
OBITUARY OF MRS. FLORA MEECH
Flora Landfare, wife of Matthew Meech passed away at her home February 26, at 9:45 p.m. at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 22 days. She was born in Milford, Wisconsin, on June 4, 1852 and was married to Matthew Meech on March 2, 1881 at Whitewater, Wisconsin.
She moved from Wisconsin to Kansas in 1881, and from Kansas to Iowa in 1895. They settled on a farm near Chester, Iowa where they lived for five years. Then they moved near Riceville where they have resided ever since.
She leaves to mourn her passing 3 children, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.
Mrs. Birkholz was with her mother at the time of her death. Other out of town relatives coming to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clark Meech, Mrs. Grace Meech, Mr. Frank Meech, and Mr. Harvey Landfare of Whitewater, Wisconsin.
**note: in the above obit it says that Mr. Frank Meech attended the funeral. This must be an error because Frank Meech died December 5 1936. Perhaps they meant to say Frank Birkholz, the husband of Flora’s daughter Mattie Meech Birkholz.
