Dixie Lucille Bode, age 89, of Osage, died Tuesday July 7, 2015, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage with Pastor Julie Schubert officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at the church.

Dixie was born July 17, 1925, in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Henry E. and Gladys (Green) Schaffer. Dixie was united in marriage to Paul R. Bode on December 22, 1943, at the United Methodist Church in Charles City.

Dixie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage where she was member of the church circle group. She spent many years volunteering for the Red Cross Blood Mobile. Dixie loved to bake mostly cookies and desserts, loved to collect recipe books and try new recipes. She always had a garden and canned vegetables, jams and jellies. Dixie enjoyed visiting with friends and family and having company in her home.

Dixie is survived by her husband, Paul Bode of Osage; her daughter, Virginia (Dale) Garber of Estherville; her son, Charles (Arlis) Bode; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister-in-law, Thelma Griggs of Sheridan, Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.

Dixie is preceded by her parents; brothers, Robert Schaffer and Norman Schaffer; infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Bode; grandson, Ryan Bode; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
