Wesley “Wes” Carter, age 71, of Osage, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with St. Croix Hospice Chaplain Brad Wysomierski officiating. Inurnment will be at the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278. Following the inurnment, there will be a time for lunch and fellowship at the Osage American Legion Hall.
Wes was born February 21, 1944, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Meeker) Carter. He received his education in the Osage schools. From 1964 to 1966, Wes served in the U.S. Army as a train engineer at Fort Eustis in Virginia. He worked in the foundry at White Farm in Charles City and was later employed at Mon-Ray Windows in Osage. Wes was a member of the Osage American Legion. He enjoyed taking his dog, Spike, to Spring Park, going to the quarry with his children and grandchildren, and working on his homes. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Wes is survived by his daughters, Lorie (Craig) Tesch of St. Ansgar, Jolene (Dave) Dixon of Moville, and Dr. Amy Carter of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Jonathan Henderson, Samuel, Taryn and Trey Tesch, and Aleyah Dixon; step-grandchildren, Briley, Ethan and Joshua Dixon; siblings, Rose (Don) Reich, Kathryn Garringer, Sarah (Glen) Putney, and William (Jean) Carter; and his faithful companion, Spike.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence Carter; and many dear friends.
