Obituary (courtesy of S. Norby):

Johan Olson, who has lived in Osage for the past fifteen years, passed away Sunday at the home of his brother, whose family he has been a member for a good many years. He lacked but three months of being 93 years of age.

Johan Olson was born at Skaane, Sweden in September of 1842. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of his native place.
In the spring of 1871, he came to America and located temporarily in Albert Lea, Minnesota, where he was for a time engaged in railroad work.

Coming to Mitchell County, he worked temporarily for farmers in Rock and Cedar Townships. Later, he and his brother, John bought a farm in Rock Township, but he later sold his interest to his brother. Then Johan purchased land in Cedar Township. During his stay in this community he has always made his home with his brother, and has been treated as a member of the family.

When his brother and family moved to Osage fifteen years ago, Johan also moved and continued to make his home with this family until the time of his death.

The departed brother has always been a strong and active man, and enjoyed good health until June 2, when heart trouble and other complications set in, terminating his temporal life on June 9, 1935, at the age of 92 years and 9 months. He has during his life in this community been an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran church.

The following relatives survive: a sister, Mrs. Ole Field, two nieces, six nephews, eight grandnephews, three grandnieces, one great-grandnephew and distant relatives in Sweden.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at the home at 1:30, and at the church at 2:30, June 11th. Interment was in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.

There is a memorial for him at Find A Grave #25667794.

(Contributor's note: Johan sometimes found as John; Olson found as Olsen and Olison. )
