Obituary--

Ronald was born May 23, 1940 to Ernest and Kathleen Alder of Waterloo, Iowa. He was the eldest of three children: Gary Alder and Shirley Webb. He received his education in Waterloo public schools. He married Cindy Sheldon on July 15, 1968 in Austin, Minnesota. Ron and Cindy raised their two boys, Jake and Jeff in St. Ansgar, Iowa, and later in life enjoyed reconnecting with Ron’s son Leon.

Ron spent most of his life working as a commercial roofer. He also worked as a cabinet maker at Woodharbor and finished working at L.R. Falk before retiring. In addition, Ron held several side jobs over the years, including at the St. Ansgar Locker and Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.

Ron and Cindy always took great pleasure in hosting their boys and teammates for large barbeques before games and cheering on their sons as they competed in football, wrestling, and track. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and watching sports and old westerns. Ron also enjoyed all the time he could spend with his family. Earlier in life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing camping and working with his hands.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cindy, sons Jeff Alder (Karla) of St. Ansgar and Jake Alder (Steph) of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Leon Fuller (Lorainne) of Evansdale, Iowa, sister Shirley Webb (Jim) and brother-in-law Kim Sheldon. Ron also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Courtney (Travis Berry), Emily (Mitchell Boerjan), Levi of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Lucy, Claire, Nikki of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Ryan and Andrew of Evansdale, Iowa; as well as two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Clara and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Alder.
