Irvin Julius Olsen was born November 26, 1892 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Levi Oscar Olsen and Karina Halvorsdatter Brenden, the second of their four children.
Found in the 1900 - 1910 censuses at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1900: Levi O Olson 34, Carrie Olson 30, Henry L Olson 8, Irvin J Olson 7, Pearl I Olson mos.
1910: Levi O Olson 44, Carrie Olson 40, Henry L Olson 18, Erving J Olson 17, Perl J Olson 10, Lillie C Olson 2.
Irvin married Cora Odella Krogstad in 1915 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
The couple had 2 stillborn children:
Kathleen Clarice Olsen (b January 26, 1918, d January 28, 1918 both at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa) and baby boy (stillborn in 1927 at Iowa).
Irvin and Cora also raised 2 foster sons:
Jean H (b 1915) and
Linton M (b 1917-1990) whose parents were Helga (Bang) and Karl Miller from Denmark. Helga died in 1919 and Karl for some reason couldn't care for the boys so Irvin and Cora took them in. Not sure if they adopted the boys but the boys did use the surname Olson instead of Miller.
Found in the 1920 census at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa: Irvin J Olsen 27, Cora Olsen 24, Jean Olsen 4 yrs, 2 mos,, Linton Olsen 2 yrs 8 mos.
Found in the 1925 census at Webster City, Hamilton, Iowa: Irving Olsen 32, Cora O Olsen 30, Jean H Olsen 9, Linton M Olsen 7, Lillie C Olsen 17, Wanda L Orr 18.
Found in the 1930 census at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa: Irvin Olson 38, Cora Olson 35, Jean Olson 14, Linton Olson 12, Lloyd Hansen 19.
Irvin J Olsen died August 1974 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa, and was buried at Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
There is a memorial for him at Find a Grave #49430718 with a photo of the couple.
