STACYVILLE, IOWA - Bonita M. Streit, 84, of Stacyville, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, in Mason City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. Raymond Burkle officiating.
Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery, Stacyville.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at the Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 5 and a Scripture Service at 7 p.m.

Obituary--Bonita (Koenigs) Streit, age 84, of Stacyville, Iowa, passed away January 14, 2015 after a short illness. She was the oldest child of Arnold and Regina Koenigs. She attended Sacred Heart School in Meyer, Iowa and Visitation High School in Stacyville, Iowa.
She married John N. Streit in 1950, and together they farmed for nearly 50 years, first near Johnsburg, Minnesota, and then near Stacyville, Iowa. She was an active member of Visitation Catholic parish of Stacyville, including multiple years teaching Catholic Christian Doctrine. She and John were active members of VFW Post 7920.
They were decades-long members of two card groups and enjoyed dancing and spending time with extended family. Bonita was a skilled baker and gardener, using bountiful energy, prayer, and determination in the raising of her large family.
With children in tow, John and Bonita enjoyed sight-seeing and fishing outings. Music, bird-watching, reading and travel brought her much pleasure. She had a lively personality and enjoyed visits with family and friends. Bonita assisted John as a book-keeper for the farm for years. More recently, she was a resident in the Assisted Living Wing of the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.
Bonita was preceded in death by her husband, John; and daughter, Mary. A dear mother and grandmother, she will be missed by her eight surviving children: David, Robert (Carol), Linda Davies (Ian), Duane (Beth), Janet, Judy, Karen and John (Melissa), and eleven grandchildren: Stephanie, Jennie and Jessica Streit, Michael Smith, Natalie and Christian Hughes, Clarissa Davies, John and Nick Streit, Marie Bauer, and Peter Streit. She was preceded in death by brother Marvin and is survived by siblings Gilbert (Norma), Mary Ann (Norbert-deceased), Bernie (Judy), Aggie (Maynard), Geni (Ken-deceased), Geri (Roger), sister-in-law Eileen, and many nieces and nephews.
