Anna Pedersdatter Nordhus was born September 10, 1828 at Fjelberg, Hordaland, Norway to Peder Povelsen Nordhus (1801-1881) and Helga Larsdatter (1795-1863), the third of their five children.

Anna was baptized on September 26, 1828 at Fjelberg, Norway. Fjelberg was a farm area in the Kvinnherad parish, on the east side of Hardangerfjord near the coast (north of Skaanevik). It is in Hordaland, County and many people refer to the area as Hardanger.

Anna married Bastian Eide Larson (b March 26, 1826 Hordaland, Norway, d April 12, 1906 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa) on March 23, 1857 at Hardanger, Hordaland, Norway. The couple soon left Norway to emigrate (spring 1857) to America. Emigration record found at Digital Archives on-line, Fjelberg, Hordaland, Norway 1851-1867, pg 352 (right side of page), entry # 56. Lars Larson Eide, Bastian Larson, Bastian's new wife, Anna Petersdatter Nordhus and Martha Larsdatter (b April 1828)

Anna and Bastian had 9 children:
Hellen (b February 16, 1858 Winneshiek, Iowa, d December 2, 1912 Norway, Wright, Iowa);

Betsey Louisa (b March 25, 1859 Lynden, Freeborn, MN, d June 2, 1928 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa);

Peder (b November 9, 1861 Lynden, Freeborn, MN, d abt 1861 Freeborn, MN);

Anna Regina (b March 2, 1863 St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa, d July 9, 1900 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa);

Peter Bastian (b November 5, 1864 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d May 1, 1959 Fort Dodge, Webster, Iowa);

Lars Bastian (b November 2, 1866 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d October 21, 1939 Mitchell Co, Iowa);

Anders Larson (b 1868 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d before 1873 same);

Anders Bastian Larson (b June 21, 1873 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d September 26, 1886 same) and

Johann (b August 29, 1874 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d before 1880 same.

Anna never learned to read or write English, she only knew Norwegian. A trunk that she brought from Norway to America is still owned by family. The Nordhus family has lived on the same farm in Norway since 1757 and there are many descendants of the Nordhus family still living there.

Anna Larson died July 2, 1910 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Osage Iowa Press News, July, 1910 Obituary:
Annie Nordhus Larson was born at Fjelberg Hordaland, Hardanger, Norway, September 10, 1828. She married Bastian Larson on March 23, 1857. They emigrated to America in the spring of 1857. Lars died in 1906. She followed him in death July 2, 1910 at the advanced age of 81 years, 9 months 22 days.

The funeral was held at the home of Peter Bastian Larson, with whom she had been living; then at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church with the Rev. M. E. Waldeland, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, officiating.

There is a memorial for her at Find a Grave #76300094 with her photo.
