Carl Halsteinsen (Everson or Iversen) Norby was born December 26, 1874 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Halstein Everson (Norby) and Taran Olsdatter Juvbraaten, the ninth of their twelve children.
Carl was baptized on March 7, 1875 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Mr & Mrs Lars Nilson; Ole Larsen and Karine Johnsdatter. Carl was confirmed at RCLC on June 8, 1890.

1880: Holstein Iverson 49, Tharine Iverson 42, Iver Iverson 21, Olevas Iverson 19, Anna Iverson 15, Edward Iverson 13, Henry Iverson 9, Laurice Iverson 7, Carl Iverson 5, Caroline Iverson 3, Elisabeth Iverson 8 mos.1885: Carl Everson age 10.
1900: Tarand E. Norby 62, Henry T Norby 29, Laurits Norby 27, Carl Norby 25, Edward Norby 18.
Carl married Ida Bertina Olsen (b January 9, 1884 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d October 26, 1968 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa) on May 23, 1906 at the Rock Creek Lutheran, Meroa, Iowa.
The couple had 5 children:
Rosella Theoline (b October 29, 1907 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d August 6, 1991 Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa);Herbert Lawrence (b January 28, 1910 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa, d February 12, 2008 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa);
Baby Boy (b/d November 5, 1913 Mitchell, Iowa);
Kenneth Irving (b May 7, 1915 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa, d January 28, 1959 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa) and
Loren Harold (b February 1, 1920 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa, d January 11, 1999 Dubuque, Iowa.)
Found in the 1910 census living on a farm at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa: Carl, 35, Ida 26, Rosella T, 2, Herbert L. 9 mos.; Lawrence Adolph Olsen age 17. (Lawrence was working for Carl and attending the seminary in St Ansgar.)
As a young adult, Carl suffered from appendicitis, but there was then a doctor in Osage who sent him by team and wagon to LaCrosse, Wisconsin for surgery. In 1897, after Halstein died, Carl rented the farm from his mother and lived with her. He was in partnership with his brother Lauritz at the time. Carl bought part of the Halstein Norby farmstead from his brother Olaus and in 1904, sold it to Lauritz. Carl continued to live with Taren after his marriage in 1906, then a couple years later, moved to a farm south of St. Ansgar, Iowa before returning to the Meroa area. His oldest child Rosella was born on the Norby farmstead, the only third generation descendant with that honor.
1928 - Osage newspaper reports that Carl's house was moved close to the road.

1930: Carl Norby 55, Ida B Norby 46, Herbert L Norby 20, Kenneth I Norby 15, Loren H Norby 10.
1940: Carl Norby 65, Ida Norby 56, Kenneth Norby 24, Loren Norby 20.
Carl Norby died June 25, 1954 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
