Kathleen B. Wiste, 93

Kathleen B. Wiste, 93, of Adams, Minnesota, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at St. Marks Living in Austin, Minnesota.

Kathleen Belle Blaser Wiste was born on March 15, 1921, in Meyer, Iowa, the sixth of ten children born to John and Anna (Blake) Blaser. She attended Sacred Heart School in Meyer. In her early 20’s, she moved to Austin, sharing an apartment with her older sister, and working in a variety of jobs including housekeeper, nanny, clerk in a dry cleaners, and on the processing line at Hormel. She met her future husband at a dance in Austin, and she and Orrin Wiste were married at Sacred Heart Church, Meyer, Iowa, on Oct. 25, 1945. Together, they raised their family of five children on the Wiste family farm in rural Adams.

After taking 25 years out of the workforce to raise their children, Kathleen returned to work at age 52, working at LPC, the Adams Café, and the Adams Health Care Center over a period of ten years until her retirement.

Kathleen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women, and the neighborhood rosary prayer group. She was a substitute cook at Southland High School, volunteered in the Sacred Heart School library, and handmade hundreds of rosaries which were sent to Catholic missions overseas. She took such pride in her rosary work, perfectly crafting each rosary into a work of art.

Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her family, getting special joy from her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin Wiste; her parents, John and Anna Blaser; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Armella and Ray Kramer, Irene and Gregory Jax; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard and Viola Blaser, Norbert and Pauline Blaser; her sisters: Mildred Blaser and Rita Smith; and her brothers Roger Blaser and Kenneth Blaser.

She is survived by her children: Louise (Ronnie) Richardson of McIntire, Iowa, Dean (Julie) Wiste of Rochester, Minnesota, Merritt (Candy) Wiste, Adams, Minnesota, Mark (Christine) Wiste, Adams, Minnesota, and Kimberly (Sam) Rizzo, Pequannock, New Jersey.

She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren: Diane (Jim) Bruen, Jackie, Jimmy and John; Robyn (Alan) Kordick, MacKenzie and Kennedee; Rochelle Richardson, Wyatt and Raeann Grundmeier and Justin Bingham; Rebecca Richardson Bill (Kurt Bill), Jordan and Bailey; Erin Wiste Kumar (Bob) and Alison; Holly (Aaron) Tempel and Lane; Jeremy Wiste; Lindsay (Brad) Sorenson and Orrin; Dustin (Jess) Wiste and Brynlee; Mark (Holly) Wiste, Zack, Trenton, Eva and Asher; Kathy (Clint) Erie, Cody, Cole, Cullen and Carter; Craig (Britany)Wiste, Cohen and Braxten; Alissa (Colter) Payne, Drake and Avery; Gina Rizzo, Nick (Dana) Rizzo, and Brianna Rizzo. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
