Henry Lovejoy Dies At Home In Mitchell
Had Been Resident of This County Since 1891Henry Lovejoy of Mitchell died last Thursday night at his home. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Community Church, in charge of H.F. Risse of St. Ansgar, a former pastor. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
Henry Cornelius Lovejoy was born at South Royalton, Vermont, March 8, 1863 and died at Mitchell, Iowa, October 31, 1929. At the age of 14, he came with his parents to Custer Park, Illinois. He was united in marriage with Sarah Stires, January 14, 1885. To this union six children were born, two dying in infancy. To mourn his loss he leaves his wife, Sarah, and four children, Otho of Minot, North Dakota, Joseph of Bolivar, Pennsylvania, Lora MacVicker of Onalaska, Washington, and Wilder, who is at home with his mother at Mitchell. Besides these immediate relatives, he leaves eight grandchildren and numerous distant relatives and friends.
Mr. Lovejoy declared his faith in God's kingdom by uniting with the United Brethren church at Custer Park, Illinois, in his early manhood. He with his wife, lived in Mitchell county thirty-two years, where he proved himself to be a good citizen and homemaker.
