Obituary - Jeffries
Luella Eliza Lovejoy was born at Stockbridge, Vermont, October 6, 1860 and passed away at her home in Osage, January 23, 1915, at the age of fifty four years, three months and 17 days. Luella Lovejoy spent her youth in Vermont, then with her parents moved to Willmington, Illinois, in 1879. Here she resided four years. From there she came to Rock Creek, Mitchell county, Iowa.
In the spring of 1882, she became acquainted with Fred Jeffries, whom she married November 13 of the same year. To them were born four children: Jesse William; Ina Vietta, now Mrs. Ray Carter; Charlie Delzo; and Earl Harry. The three older children reside in Rock Creek, west of Osage. Earl, a young man in High School is still under the parental roof. She was the proud possessor of three grandchildren.
Since their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffries have resided in Rock Creek, until five years ago when they moved to Osage.
Mrs. Jeffries was first a homebody, a devoted wife and mother, quiet yet firm in her allegiance to friends, and church, and lodge. Besides the immediate family, she leaves to mourn her loss, three sisters and five brothers; a host of friends have lost the earthly presence of a beloved spirit, and join with them in sympathy and feel with them her absence.
Mr. Miller, assisted by Mrs. Hitchcock, conducted the funeral service Monday at the Universalist church. The WRC and Rebekahs attended in a body.
