George Oscar Oleson Moe was born June 18, 1858 at Valdres, Oppland, Norway to Ole Oleson Christiansmoen and Guri Olsdatter Bjoran Maafaa.
He emigrated in 1865 to Wisconsin with his parents and moved to Iowa in 1866. Sometimes found using the name Ole O Moe.
He was confirmed on June 7, 1885 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
He married Else Marie Fjelde on March 17, 1892 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa (one source says March 16th.)
The couple had 1 daughter, Georgia Olava Moe (b September 10, 1893 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, married Hugo E Gibson 1932).
Found in the 1870 - 1895 censuses living on a farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1870: Ole MO 39, Gurie MO 36, Ole MO 11, Gilbert MO 9, Gunilda MO 7, Martha MO 5, Olouse MO 2.
1880: Ole Moe 49, Julia Moe 43, Ole Moe 21, Gilbert Moe 18, Julia Moe 16, Martin Moe 13, Olaus Moe 10, Oline Moe 8, Caroline Moe 5, Maria Moe 3.
1885: Oley O Moe 54, Julia Moe 48, Ole O Moe 25, Gilbert Moe 23, Julia Moe 20, Martin Moe 17, George Moe 15, Lena Moe 12, Carra Moe 10, Mary Moe 8.
1895: Ole O Moe age 35
George Moe died April 22, 1897 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Iowa.
There is a memorial for him at Find a Grave #56810032.
