Joan Lorene (Fritz) Dickey, age 79, of Osage, died Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Faith Home in Osage.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home. There will be no relatives present at the visitation.

Joan was born to John K. and Bertha (Berg) Fritz at Stitzer, Wisconsin, on May 4, 1935. Joan grew up around Fennimore, Wisconsin and married Vernon D. Dickey on October 20, 1951, at Prairie de Chien, Wisconsin. She worked almost all of her adult life as a secretary/bookkeeper. Her vast array of hobbies included all of the needle arts.

She read at least 200 books a year and enjoyed playing chess. Joan received many blue ribbons on cross stitch and she felt her greatest achievement in the needle arts was a cross stitch of The Last Supper. Pictures of the Statue of Liberty and the Iwo Jima Memorial done by her are displayed at the Osage American Legion Hall. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Joan died with her son at her side and was kissed a loving farewell to be with our Lord. There is no more pain.

Joan is survived by her son, William Dickey of Osage; her sister, Sharon Schmitz of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Dickey on July 22, 2000; an infant son, Lavern on July 19, 1956; dear twin brother, John Fritz; brother, Carl Fritz; and sister, Karen Petrick.
