Funeral services for Rollin W. Angell, 83, of Osage, will be held Wednesday, January 19, at Champion Funeral Home in Osage. He died on January 16, 1983, following a short illness. Rev. J. Gilbert will officiate at the service with burial in the Osage Cemetery. Rev. Putney will assist. Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rollin W. Angell was born June 3, 1899 in Burr Oak Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. He was the third child of Walter and Eldie Angell. He attended rural grade school in Burr Oak No. 1, and attended Osage High School, graduating in 1919. He was a baptized member of the First Baptist Church, Osage, and later transferred his membership to the United Church of Christ in Osage.
He was united in marriage to Clare Doris Erkenbrack at Hewitt, Minnesota, on June 8, 1921.
He farmed in partnership with his brother Merlyn until 1937 when he purchased a farm east of Osage. he was a township trustee for 20 years, member of the fair board, Mitchell County Farm Bureau President, a member and officer of the Mitchell County Extension Council, Co-op Elevator board director and president and served on Twin Cedar Co-op Creamery board.
He retired from farming in 1964 and moved to Osage.
Survivors include his wife, Clara; two sons, Andrew and Marlow of Osage; one daughter, Helen Tubbs of Osage; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Thera Angell and one brother, Merlyn Angell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son and two brothers.
