RICEVILLE, IOWA - Debbie Lee (Torney) Smith, 59, of Riceville died on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at her home in rural Riceville after a battle with ALS.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church, rural Elma, with Pastor Dan Christensen officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville and one hour before services at the church on Friday.

Debbie Lee was born on February 15, 1955, the only child of Gaylord and Marilyn (Wilson) Torney in Waterloo, Iowa. The family moved to the Riceville area in 1963. Debbie was united in marriage to Larry Dean Smith on April 3, 1971 at Maple Leaf Lutheran Church in Saratoga, Iowa and to this union five children were born: Lisa, Shannon, Jeremy, Jill and Robin. Debbie graduated from Riceville Community Schools in 1973. She held various positions throughout her life, but her greatest passion was taking care of her family. Debbie enjoyed volunteering at Cresco Hospital and Riceville Community Schools. Debbie enjoyed embroidery, caring for her flower beds, adored animals, and her love for supporting Riceville School athletic events.Debbie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Larry of Riceville; five children: Lisa Reddel of Rochester, Minnesota; Shannon Smith of Osage, Iowa; Jeremy (Ann) Smith of Fairfax, Iowa; Jill (Rob) Kilbourn of Riceville, Iowa; and Robin (Phil) Rodriquez of Rochester, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild, Austin Geerts.

4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, Iowa.Service:
