Carl Olsen Knudsen was born November 28, 1879 at rural Floyd County, Iowa to Ole Knudsen and Kari Olsdatter, the oldest of their eleven children. Carl was baptized on February 8, 1880, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, and confirmed at same on June 13, 1897.
Found in the 1880 census at Rudd, Floyd, Iowa: Ole Knudeson 26, Carrie O. Knudeson 23, Carl Knudeson 7 mos.
Found in the 1885 - 1900 censuses at Lincoln, Mitchell, Iowa:
1885: Ole Knudson 30, Carrie Knudson 27, Carl Knudson 5, Oscar Knudson 4, Lawrence Knudson 2, Peter A Knudson 0.
1895: Carl Knudson age 15.
1900: Ole Knudson 46, Carrie Knudson 54, Carl Knudson 20, Oscar Knudson 19, Peter Knudson 14, Herman Knudson 12, Nellie Knudson 11, Julian Knudson 8, Laura Knudson 6.
Carl married Olea Johnson on September 15, 1903 at Mitchell County, Iowa.
