Charles David Brown

February 20, 1858 – April 13, 1924

Charles David Brown was born in Dane County, Wisconsin, February 20, 1858, and passed away at his home in Spring Green April 13th, 1924, at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 24 days.

His early life was spent near White Mound. At the age of 31 he went to Iowa, where he was united in marriage to Sarah D. Vining. They purchased a farm in Mitchell County, which was their home until 1915. He then sold the farm and moved to Orchard, Iowa, where he bought a home.

In 1916 he was taken sick with anemia and has been in poor health since. In August, 1923 he returned to Wisconsin to spend his remaining days with his children.

Mr. Brown was the youngest son in a family of ten children, four of whom survive him; Thomas Brown, Mrs. Margaret Dickerson of Lone Rock, Mrs. Grace Westenhaver of Baraboo, and Jennie Van Ambargh of Charles City, Iowa.

He is also survived by his wife and five children: Mrs. Ethel Becker, Mrs. Will Jordan, Mrs. John Storkson, Lee Brown, all of Spring Green, and Mrs. Harold Cork of Madison. He was a loving husband and father and a kind neighbor, always willing to help others. He confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized April 13th, 1919.

Funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock by Rev. W. M. Philpott and the body was laid to rest in the Spring Green Cemetery.
