Mary Halvorson, age 93, of Osage, and formerly of St. Ansgar, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Stacyville Nursing Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in St. Ansgar Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Mary was born April 11, 1920, in Plymouth, the daughter of Camiel “Mell” and Ida (Boerjan) Taets. Mary was united in marriage to Avery L. Halvorson on October 4, 1939, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. She was a member of the St. Ansgar Catholic Church. She loved flowers and enjoyed baking and cooking.

Mary is survived by her children, Marshall (Linda) Halvorson of Austin, Minnesota; Elizabeth “Liz” Evans of Columbia, Missouri; Marcia (Mike) Ehlers of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Marjorie Springer; her sister, Florence Flynn; her three brothers, Francis in infancy, Russell and George Taets.
