Service Held Tuesday for Oliver J. Farus
Funeral services for Oliver J. Farus, 74, were held Tuesday, April 6 at 1 p.m. in the United Methodist Church of Riceville, with the Reverend Lanny Carlson officiating. Mr. Farus passed away Sunday morning, April 14, 1982 at the Stacyville Nursing Home.
Oliver J. Farus was born December 15, 1907 in New Sharon, Iowa, the son of O. J. and Lena Knutson Farus. He was a retail hardware store owner by profession as well as doing sheet metal and furnace work. He was a member of the Methodist Church and also held membership in the Masonic Lodge.
He attended the Forest City Elementary School and moved to this region in 1939. In 1927 he was united in marriage to Hazel Brown in Forest City, Iowa, and to this union one son, Gene, was born.
He is survived by his son, Gene, Dewitt, Iowa; two grandchildren; one sister, Olga Trevillyan, Sun City, Arizona and one brother, Sid, Forest City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Hazel in February, 1969; three brothers, Ed, Leonard and Bill, and one sister, Geneva.
Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville with the Conway Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
