Marvin Junior Smolik, age 82, of Osage, died Friday, February 14, 2014, peacefully in his sleep at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage, with Rev. Bryan Lagerstam and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage V.F.W. Post 7920. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Marvin was born December 28, 1931, in Burr Oak Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of George William and Viola Mae (Carrison) Smolik. He graduated from Riceville High School in 1950. Marvin served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

On November 26, 1953, he married Jeannette Roseberry at St. Martin’s Church is Somersworth, New Hampshire. Marvin worked as a telephone installer for Western Electric. He enjoyed gardening, tractors, farming, hunting, fishing, coin collecting and having coffee at Hardee’s. He had a great love for cats.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Jeannette (Roseberry) Smolik of Osage; his children, Leanne Smolik of Osage, Steven (Laurie) Smolik of Osage; grandchildren, Dayne Smolik, Stephanie Smolik and Dylan Sheldon; great-grandchild, Tyson Smolik; siblings, Marlow “Dean” Smolik of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Wayne (Elaine) Smolik of Osage, and Allen (Jane) Smolik of Osage; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Frank and Anna (Cejka) Smolik, Clinton and Ida (Barker) Carrison; and infant daughters, Suzanne Marie and Mary Louise.

Marvin Junior Smolik, age 82, of Osage, died Friday, February 14, 2014, peacefully in his sleep at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services were originally scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014. Funeral services will now be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating.

Visitation will be still be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
