Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. for retired church worker Harry Bunge. Rev. J. Nesheim will be in charge of the service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church here, with burial in Osage Cemetery.
Mr. Bunge, 77, died Sunday, January 11, 1981, at his home in Osage. He had not been ill.
G. Harry Bunge was born on May 5, 1903, to the Rev. Paul and Marguretha Kruse Bunge in Davenport, Iowa. He was baptized into the Lutheran Church in Davenport and confirmed at Hull, Iowa. Mr. Bunge graduated from Wartburg Academy, Clinton.
Harry Bunge and Lena Helzer were married in Armour, South Dakota on July 5, 1927. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, later moving to Auburn, Nebraska, where they operated a hardware store. Mr. Bunge was later involved in fund raising and was assistant to the president of the American Lutheran Church Central District from 1956 to 1968 when he retired and moved to Osage.
He was active in senior citizens activities including serving as a board member for the Hamlin Garland Homes, Osage Senior Citizen officer and member of the senior citizen transportation committee. He was a member of the Osage Rotary Club for several years.
Harry Bunge is survived by his widow; one son, Paul of Osage; for grandchildren: Nadine DeVoss, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Martin, St. Joseph, Missouri, Martha Ames, and John, at home. Also surviving are two brothers, Luther, Opelika, Alabama, and Rev. Arnold, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and four sisters: Marie Kiunke, Ventura, Calif., Rose Horchler, Arvada, Colorado, Anne Stange, Hull, and Irma Walters, Freeman, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
