Gertrude E. Dieterichs, age 96, of Osage, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
Gertrude E. Tessman Dieterichs was born April 15, 1917, at St. Ansgar, Iowa. Her parents were Edward R. and Emma Tessman. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. Gertrude was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in 1930. She was united in marriage to Paul Dieterichs on June 8, 1939. To this union four children were born, Joan, Carol, John and Edward.
Gertrude was a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown. She then went to work for Mitchell County Home Health Care. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and an active member of Trinity LWML. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Gertrude is survived by one daughter, Carol (Ned) Pollard of Osage; two sons, John Dieterichs (fiancée, Linda Heller) of Mason City, and Edward (Pat) Dieterichs of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Kary (Deneen) Schweiger, Kurt (Dolores) Schweiger, Shelly (Gordon) Sova, Kristine (Jeff) Rosenberg, Chuck Hurley (special friend, Becky Seacrist), Viki Hurley (special friend, Nathen Nelson), Rebecca Turner, Dr. Daniel (Barbara) Dieterichs, Timothy Dieterichs (fiancée, Tawney Karbo), Joshua Dieterichs, Dr. Chad (Sonja) Dieterichs, and Nicole Dieterichs; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Dieterichs in 1977; her daughter, Joan Schwieger; one sister, Norma Tessman; and two brothers, Arthur and Elmer Tessman.
