OSAGE, IOWA - Violet Schlick, 93, of Osage, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Violet Schlick

(Died January 30, 2014)

Violet Schlick, age 93, of Osage, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the United Church of Christ in Osage with Pastor Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Following services, there will be lunch and fellowship with the family in the church hall.

Violet was born April 23, 1920, in Kulm, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Emilie (Hille) Widmer. She graduated from Kulm High School in 1937 and attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. Violet married Clayton Schlick on January 23, 1942, in Moorhead, Minnesota. They moved to Osage and opened Schlick’s Jewelry Store in November of 1946.

Violet and Clayton retired in 1982. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Violet enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, and fishing. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Violet is survived by her children, John (Diane) Schlick of Perry, Florida, Jerry (Sharon) Schlick of Perry, Florida, Joellyn (Ken) Weinberger of Osage, and Judy (Tim) Scheer of Lakeville, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Kelly) Meredith of Malta, Idaho, Jason (Carrie) Schlick of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Cory (Michelle) Weinberger of Waukee, Alicia (Jason) Trout of Decorah, Kelly (Mike) Rierson of Lakeville, Minnesota, Kari (William) Benolkin of Farmington, Minnesota, and Kristin Scheer of St. Paul; 17 great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kierstyn and Trevin Meredith, Callie Beth and Mollie Kate Schlick, Clayton, Cooper and Madelyn Weinberger, Rowan and Saer Trout, Taylor, Brandon, Leah and Kira Rierson, Dylan Lach, Calvin and Kennedy Benolkin; sister, Vivian (Larry) Roesler of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded death by her parents; her husband, Clayton Schlick in 2003; a grandson; four brothers; one niece and one nephew. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home (641)732-3706
