ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Carol (Pacey) Blakestad, 94, of St. Ansgar, died on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral service will be on Monday, January 27, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa. Visitation will be at the church prior to service. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Carol (Pacey) Blakestad, 94, of St. Ansgar, died on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.

Visitation will be prior to service at the church. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

Carol was born July 10, 1919, to parents March and Minnie (Howe) Pacey, on a farm near Rock Falls, Iowa. She attended school in Plymouth, Iowa, until moving to a farm just east of Otranto, Iowa, in 1934. She graduated from Otranto Consolidated High School in 1937.

Carol married Norman Blakestad on September 25, 1939. They made their home on the Blakestad Family farm, where they raised their family.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman and infant daughter, Karen.

Surviving Carol are daughter Sheryl (Ron) Adams, Denver, Iowa; sons Alan (Suzette) Blakestad, Avoca, Iowa, and Dale (Vonda) Blakestad, St. Ansgar, Iowa. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Carol loved her community, church involvement, school activities and being with family and friends.
