Lois Grace Alke, age 87, of Osage, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bryan Lagerstam and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Lois was born March 22, 1926, on a farm north of Lakota, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Grace (Rippentrop) Jansen, and grew up in the Titonka area. On October 20, 1950, she married William "Bud" Alke at the Ramsey Reformed Church in Titonka. They farmed near Titonka and moved to Osage in 1964. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Lois worked for 22 years as a cook at the Osage Community Schools. She was well known for her potato salad.
Lois is survived by her husband, Bud Alke of Osage; two sons, Edward (Phuong) Alke of Westminster, California; Darryll (Ann Dotson) Alke of West Liberty; one daughter, Kathy (Ben) Fuller of Bondurant; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Violet Beenken, Janice Eberle, and Joyce Beenken.
