WATERLOO, IOWA — Charles S. McMaster, 85, of the Cedar Falls Western Home, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, June 16, 1997, at Allen Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 20, 1912, in rural Onslow, son of Thomas H. and Maggie Robertson McMaster. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Schoonmaker on June 17,1938, in Nashua. She died April 7, 1997.

Mr. McMaster worked at Cutler Hardware Wholesale Company for 36 years, retiring in 1977.

Survived by two daughters. Elizabeth Leslie of Eldridge and Ruth Smith of Hawkeye; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a brother, James R.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with inurnment at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville. There will be a 7 p.m. public Masonic service today at the funeral home, where friends may call for an hour before services Thursday.

Memorials may be directed to Cardiac Rehab at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, or the American Heart Association.
