WILLIAM BARNES
DIED IN OELWEIN

Funeral services for William Barnes, 88, an Osage resident, were held Saturday afternoon at a funeral home in Oelwein. Rev. W. Paige was in charge of the rites, and burial was in the Long Grove cemetery, Maynard, Iowa.

Mr. Barnes died at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein last Thursday. He was a retired farmer and feed salesman.

William H. Barnes was born at Maynard, Iowa, on June 29, 1883, the son of Hiram A. and Hattie Rich Barnes.

Ellen Payne and William Barnes were married on September 23, 1906. The resided at Maynard until moving to Osage, Iowa, 33 years ago. Mrs. Barnes died in 1969.

Surviving are one son, Louis of Jesup; five daughters, Mrs. Lee Coleman (Eleanor) of Oelwein, Mrs. Herb Schatz (Doris) of West Union, Mrs. Charles Tubbs (Mary Lou) of Mason City, Mrs. June Davis of Osage; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
