RITES HELD FOR
DR. G. KREPELKA

Funeral services were held Friday for a prominent Osage physician, Dr. G.E. Krepelka, 77, who died at Methodist hospital in Rochester on Tuesday, November 23, 1971.

Rev. Wayne Gjerde, pastor of the United Methodist church, was in charge of the rites at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

George Edward Krepelka was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on March 11, 1894, the son of Frank and Mary Benda Krepelka. He attended the Iowa City schools and graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1918.

Dr. Krepelka enlisted in the army on December 16, 1916, receiving his discharge on January 1, 1919. He remained in the reserves until January, 1924.

He went to Stacyville in January, 1919, where he entered the practice of medicine and and surgery. He remained in Stacyville for 18 years. In 1927 he moved to Osage and after partial retirement in 1955, he maintained an office in his residence. He was a staff member of Mitchell County Memorial hospital from 1932 until 1960.

Vlasta Shimek and Dr. Krepelka were married on April 3, 1919.

Dr. Krepelka was a member of the Mitchell County Medical Association and the Iowa State Medical Society. He was a member of the Selective Service System for 20 years, served as Mitchell county coroner for about 25 years, and was on the staff of the Floyd County Memorial hospital for many years.

He was active in the Masonic Orders, a member of the El Kahir Temple of Cedar Rapids, and had belonged to the American Legion Post 278 for more than 50 years.

Surviving are his wife, Vlasta; one daughter, Mrs. David Dunlop (Ann) of Osage; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. G. Krall (Anna) of Iowa City, Mrs. A. A. Sindelar (Margie) of Cedar Rapids; and one brother, Frank Krepelka of Mercer Island, Washington.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.
