RITES FRIDAY FOR
LORENZ HELFTER, 69

Funeral arrangements were incomplete Wednesday for Lorenz Helfter, 69, of New Haven, Iowa, who died at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Rites were tentatively set for Friday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven.

Mr. Helfter, a member of the board of directors at Memorial hospital and a member of the board of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Association, was known to have a heart condition.

LORENZ HELFTER
OF NEW HAVEN

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven, for Lorenz Helfter, 69, who died of a heart attack on October 13, 1971, at mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, Iowa.

Rev. P. Evans, church pastor, was in charge of services and arrangements were by Chisholm Funeral Home of Riceville. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Lorenz Peter Helfter was born on May 3, 1902, in Osage, Iowa, the son of George and Harriet Carroll Helfter. He lived his early years in Little Cedar and attended the local grade school. He graduated from high school at St. Thomas Academy in St. Paul, and graduated from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Bernice Gilles and Lorenz Helfter were married at St. Peter's Church in New Haven on June 19, 1924. He was in the grocery business in New Haven with his brother-in-law, Henry Carroll from 1928 to 1945. He since has been in farming and the turkey business.

He belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters and at the time of his death was a member of the boards of the Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Farm Mutual Insurance of Mitchell county and the Iowa Turkey Association.

Surviving are his wife; three sons: Don of Osage, Larry of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Robert of Osage; two daughters, Mrs. James (Joan) Yarwood, Mount Pleasant, Michigan; and Mrs. Herb (Marilyn) Johanns, Jr., Osage; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Joseph Helfter of St. Cloud, Minnesota; and a sister, Mrs. Delia Hawley of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, a grandson, Kenneth Helfter, a brother, John Helfter and a sister, Mrs. Henry (Gertrude) Carroll.
