RITES HELD FOR
MARTIN SOLBERGFuneral services were held Wednesday for a Rock Creek area resident, Martin Solberg, 81, who died Sunday at a hospital in Mason City.
Rev. D. Berg, pastor of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, was in charge of the rites at the Champion Funeral Home, and burial was in the Rock Creek cemetery.
Martin Solberg was born in Norway on December 12, 1889, the son of Andreas and Elsie Synsby Solberg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received his education in Norway before coming to the United States when he was 22.
He married Mrs. Betsy Olsen Solberg, widow of his late brother Chris, in 1929. He worked as a farm hand in Floyd county for many years.
Surviving are one son, Marvin Solberg of Floyd; three step-sons, Ralph Solberg of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Al of Mason City, Ervin of Floyd; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Harold Solberg of Des Moines; one brother and five sisters in Norway.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1963; his parents, his brother Chris of Floyd; and one brother who died in Norway.
