Funeral services were held on Tuesday for Miss Fern Palmer, 60, a well-known Osage woman, who died Sunday at the Grinnell Community Hospital. She became ill while visiting her sister, Mrs. Russell Otcheck in Grinell. Cause of her death was a heart attack.

Mr. Melville Hof, Reader of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Mason City, was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Fern Lucille Palmer was born on July 21, 1910, at Winnebago, Illinois, the daughter of H.C. and Fanny Smith Palmer. The family moved to Osage in 1917.

Miss Palmer was a graduate of Osage high school and the University of Northern Iowa. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Pelley's Electric Supply in Osage, at the time of her death. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Mason City.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Maxine Knudtson of Garner, and Mrs. Russell Otcheck of Grinnell; and seven nieces.

Miss Palmer's mother, Mrs. H.C. Palmer, died in December. She was also preceded in death by her father and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Coonradt.
