BODY OF RIVER VICTIM
IS TAKEN TO HIS HOMELYBARGER REMAINS TAKEN
FROM IOWA CITY TO OSAGEIowa City, Iowa, Oct. 15, 1913 — Kenneth Glenn Lybarger, drowned in the Iowa River, as recorded in these dispatches, Tuesday, a broken-hearted father arrived in Iowa City during the night. The latter, I. W. Lybarger, a wealthy farmer of Osage, Iowa, took the body to that city this morning for Interment. The prostrated mother could not come.
The drowned young man, a student in the college of Dentistry, came hither from Des Moines, recently, changing to the Iowa University College of Dentistry when Drake closed its kindred school.
He was a brilliant musician, especially noted for his cornet playing. He was a member of the university band, and had traveled throughout the summer as a cornet player at many chautauquas.
Frank Ettinger, of Casey, Iowa, who narrowly escaped drowning when the canoe upset, is able to be around now although his fate was so nearly duplicate of his fellow-student's that he was unconscious and semi-unconscious for six hours. J. Ross Simpon, of Des Moines, a third student in the same canoe, was largely instrumental in saving Ettinger, preventing him from letting go of the overturned craft until aid came. Ettinger was wholly covered by the canoe for a few minutes. When placed in the rescuing boat, Ettinger, struggling in a semi-comatose state, nearly upset that canoe also. In it were three other fellow dental students p Laurence M. Wise, Earlham; Victor V. Hinkle, Iowa City; and E. Ray Swank, Des Moines.
