In St. Ansgar, Friday morning, April 1, 1887, Eva Anna McIlwain, aged 9 years, 2 months and 4 days.
Eva was born in this township, and was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. McIlwain. Twelve days before her death she was stricken down with the fatal brain disorder known to the medical profession as tuburcular meningitis from which disease she died. Little Eva was a favorite among the children of her own age, a regular attendant at the Sabbath School, in which she took great interest. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, and her remains were taken to Osage for interment. The bereaved parents have the heartfelt sympathy of the people of this community in the loss of their beloved child.
