AZLE, TEXAS - Russell Dean Hartwig, 74, a loving father, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013, in Fort Worth, Texas.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at West Bay Azle.

Russell D. Hartwig was born April 27, 1939, in Osage, to Edwin and Mary McGill Hartwig. He graduated in 1957 from Osage High School. After graduation, he began a career with AT&T as a cable splicer except for enlistment in the Army from 1962-1964. He retired 1991 at a lakeside community where he was known as "the mayor." He enjoyed bowling, fishing and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include Mother, Mary Hartwig of Osage; daughter, Heidi Ervin of Arlington, Texas; sons, Darin of Dallas and Dirk of Arlington; grandsons, Brian, David and Jonathan; sisters, Sandra Young of East Moline, Illinois, Judy Miller of Rudd, Diann Lanum of Hampton, Illinois, and Kathy Esber of Foster City, California.
