Brithe Johannesdatter was born November 25, 1804 Nyhre farm, Voss, Hordaland, Norway to Johannes Olsen and Randvi Olsdatter Nyhre. Birth/baptismal record in the Norwegian Digital Archives on line for Voss, Hordaland, Norway, 1780-1810, page 222 (right side of page), 2nd from top: Father: Johannes Olsen; mother: Randvei Olsdatter Nyhre Baptismal sponsors: Haaver Olsen Nyhre; Trach Olsen, Torbien Ellingsdatter, Krishe Olsdatter, Ragnilde Olsdatter Hauge. (hard to decipher; not sure if date is birth or baptismal date).

Brithe was confirmed on June 13, 1819 at Voss, Hordaland, Norway. Confirmation record in the Norwegian Digital Archives on line for Voss, Hordaland, Norway, 1816-1827, page 235 (right side of page), entry #6. Brithe Johannesdatter Nyhre age 15.

Married Aad (Odd) Nielsen Himle June 11, 1832 at Voss, Hordaland, Norway; 4 children: Brita, Randvi Maria, Niels and Inger.

Left Norway in May of 1852 and arrived in New York City in July. Emigration: Family found in the Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Voss, Hordaland, Norway 1845-1855: page 98, entries # 16-21: Odd Nielsen Himle age 47; wife Brithe Johannesdatter age 48; Children: Britha age 20; Randvei age 16; Niels age 11; Inger age 5. Leaving Voss, Hordaland Norway on May 11, 1852.
Also family found on a Passenger list emigrating from Norway to U.S. Port of Departure: Bergen, Norway. Arrival Date: 16 Jul 1852; Port of Arrival: New York, New York, U.S. on Ship "Bjorgiven". Traveled on to Wisconsin.
Ole, born 1805, age 47; Brite born 1804, age 48; Brite born 1833, age 19; Maria age 17, born 1835; Inger age 5, born 1847; Niels age 10, born 1842. Family traveled west to settle in Wisconsin.

Found in the 1860 census living at Leeds, Columbia, Wisconsin: Odd Nelson 54, Betsey Nelson 55, Maria Nelson 24, Nels Nelson 19, Inger Nelson 13. *****Moved to Floyd Co, Iowa.

Found in the 1870 and 1885 censuses at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa:
1870: Wdd (Aad) Nelson 60, Betsey Nelson 55, Eugner Nelson 32 (either this is Brita who was would be 32 yrs old or Inger who would be 23 yrs old), Alina Eleson 3, born in Iowa. (daughter of ?) Personal value $200.00.

1885: Nels O Nelson 43, Enga Nelson 43, Iver Nelson 18, Catharine Nelson 16, Emma Nelson 14, Albert Nelson 11, Amelia Nelson 9, Oscar Nelson 4, Bertina Nelson 2, Betsey Nelson 83; says born 1802 Norway, widowed.

Died at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa sometime in 1885 or after, before 1900. Probably buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, still looking for information on her death date and burial site.
