RICEVILLE, IOWA — Benjamin Myers, 79, of rural Riceville died at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, on Saturday, August 31, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.

Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, from 4 until 7 p.m. and one hour before services at the church.

Obituary:
Benjamin Frederick Myers was born in Riceville, Iowa on December 16, 1933 to Lloyd and Dorothy Metz Myers. He attended country schools. He served his country in the US Army.

On April 12, 1955 he was united in marriage to Velda Kapka at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville. Ben worked for White Farm Equipment in Charles City for 34 years. He enjoyed farming and was a dump truck driver.

Ben passed away at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa on Saturday, August 31, 2013.

Survivors include his wife, Velda of Riceville; son David of Riceville; daughter Mary Bennett (Steve) of Mazeppa, Minnesota; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also surviving are four brothers: Bill (Inga) of Kalispell, Montana, Lloyd (Cheri) of Lake City, Minnesota, Larry of Fargo, North Dakota, and Gary (Liz) of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; five sisters: Eleanor Leonard of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Barbara (Harold) Burfeind of Lake City, Minnesota, Bernita (Don) Reinhardt of Kalispell, Montana, Connie Minnick of Red Wing, Minnesota; and Donna Klennert of Lake City, Minnesota.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Lea Ann, brothers: George, Gordon, and Fred and a sister Linda Vining.

Visitation:
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 At Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, Iowa, and for an hour prior to services at the church.

Service:
10:30 am on Thursday, September 5, 2013 St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Riceville, Iowa

Cemetery:
Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Iowa
