Gustava Karina Hendrikson was born September 10, 1865 at Dane, Wisconsin to Hans Hendrikson (born August 5, 1835 Fekjer, Norway, died March 31, 1885 Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa) and Anna Olsdatter Dokkenbakken (born October 15, 1842 Nordre Aurdal, Bagn, Norway, died September 25, 1913 Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa), the oldest of six children. Her siblings were: Olaf, Hendrik, Klara Hellina, Ida Christine and Hans Adolf.

The family moved to a farm before 1873 in Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa. Gustava was confirmed on April 18, 1880 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Found in the 1880 - 1895 censuses living at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa:
1880: Hans Hendrickson 45, Anna Hendrickson 37, Augusta Hendrickson 14, Olie Hendrickson 12, Henry Hendrickson 10, Clara Henrickson 8, Ida Hendrickson 6, Nelse Nelson 20.

1885: Hans Hendrickson 49, Anna Hendrickson 42, Gusta C Hendrickson 19, Olof H Hendrickson 17, Henry Hendrickson 14, Clara P Hendrickson 12, Ida C Hendrickson 10.

1895: Gustava Norby age 28.

Gustava married Iver Halstensen Norby on September 13, 1886 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 4 children: Henry Hjalmer, Adolph Theodore, Clara Alcora and Gilman Irvine.

Gustava died February 19, 1898 at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
