LITTLE CEDAR, IOWA - Mary Abben, 76, of Little Cedar, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 24, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will be at the Liberty Cemetery in Little Cedar. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to Faith Lutheran Home, 914 Davidson Drive, Osage, Iowa.

Mary was born March 26, 1937, in Osage, the daughter of John and Ethel (Richardson) Bower.

She graduated from Little Cedar High School in 1955. On June 12, 1955, she married Duane Abben at the Little Cedar United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing card games with grandkids, crocheting, knitting, and reading. In earlier years, Mary and Duane loved roller skating. She was a member of the Little Cedar United Methodist Church where she played the organ for over 50 years.

Mary is survived by her husband, Duane Abben of Little Cedar; her children, Steven (Dell) Abben of Osage, Cynthia Abben of Little Cedar, Victoria Abben of Osage, and Debra Abben of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Bower of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Richard Bower and John Marshall Bower.
